Three years later, health systems are still facing the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID pandemic. One could argue that COVID revealed many inefficiencies in healthcare, some of which we have been able to overcome while others have lingered. The impact of COVID on the patient population most definitely impacted severity reporting data. Many leaders across the U.S. opt for removing COVID claims from their analyses since the beginning of the pandemic. This example highlights some of the flaws traditional analytical approaches present in the setting of a pandemic or any other event that changes the patient population significantly.
In this session, we will discuss the impact that COVID has had on severity reporting data and metrics, as well as what to be cautious of when analyzing data using traditional approaches.
